Our Story

Construction has always been more than a career for JTL Construction. It is a craft passed down, learned on job sites, and shaped by values that still guide the company today.

Before JTL Construction ever existed, the foundation was set by Kenneth and Thomas Johnson’s father, Joel Johnson. Joel worked in construction and was also a pecan farmer, believing deeply in building things that lasted. He built the family home himself and lived by the idea that your name should always stand behind your work. His work ethic, respect for craftsmanship, and commitment to doing things right shaped the way his family approached both work and life.

Founder Kenneth Johnson was introduced to construction at a young age, working alongside his father. By the time he was 13, he was already taping drywall. At 16, he was running his own crew. Those early years built the skills, discipline, and responsibility that would later carry into his career.

Co-founder Thomas Johnson also grew up around construction, learning early the value of hard work, attention to detail, and following through on commitments. He takes pride in seeing a client’s vision come to life and making sure each project is completed with care, consistency, and clear communication.

Today, JTL Construction continues that legacy under the leadership of CEO Larry Langenfeld. Born in Montana’s Big Sky Country and raising his family in South Dakota for nearly three decades, Larry brings a lifetime of hard work, integrity, and craftsmanship to the company. His leadership is shaped by the values of the American West: resilience, honesty, accountability, and a commitment to building things that last.

As CEO, Larry leads JTL Construction with a hands-on, people-focused approach. He believes in building strong relationships with clients, empowering skilled tradespeople, and delivering work that reflects pride in every detail. Under his leadership, JTL continues to provide dependable, high-quality work across the finishing stages of construction, including insulation installation, drywall systems, professional painting, finish carpentry, and millwork.

Today, Larry, Kenneth, and Thomas lead JTL Construction with the same principles they were raised on, honest work, dependable relationships, and a commitment to building projects they are proud to stand behind.
